CAAS Orientation is so interesting~ The programme starts at 9am, where small breakfast buffet was served. We had this ‘standard’ ice-breaking game of questions for us to collect answers from the rest. Main purpose is to mingle around. Next we had this IQ sheet, where pictures are used to describe some words. For instance, a spanner opening the “word” ADDRESS means – opening address.
Next, we played this game where we are given 1 egg, 20 straws & 1 trash bag, and were asked to find ways of creativity to protect the egg of breaking when being thrown down at waist level. My group, along with 2 other groups won. We protect the egg inside the trash bag and tied the straws around which outcome looks like an atom. Haha. Our prize was – Changi Cap (grey). Zzz. There were different speakers giving presentations of different departments of airport etc. Little boring for this part.
We had a small tour around the CARC, my first time in the Jackpot room too. Then we had lunch with that higher management. My table was with the director of Corp. Communication & Chief of Airport Emergency Service. The Oreo Cheese cake is yummy! We talked from airport issue, to terrorist to fuel prices. Haha. Next, we head for exciting excursion of Aiport.
Took a coach first to the SATCC – Singapore Air Traffic Control Centre. Well, not exactly the iconic control tower, but another more important base. Only yesterday then I know that the SATCC is controlling flights across the boundary of Singapore to even Thailand from the Radial, whereas the Control Tower is only controlling the arrival & departure of flights around the Airport. Its my first desired job in airport actually, but I dun like the shift! Haha. Its really tiring as it’s a 24-hr shift and one of the shift cycle is 1pm off, 8pm on the same day report back work till next day morning. The pay is of cos GOOD~ but.. the responsibility is heavier and more stressful. So excited to see them ‘live’ doing all the transmittion. The person also explained some of the history of SATCC etc.
Leaving the place, we went SAA – Singapore Aviation Academy. Its like a country club kind of school. Haha. Certain employees like the traffic controller will need to come back frequently for refresher course. It even has a 5m deep pool for the AES people to do their sea rescue lesson. We also went to the Traffic controller radial stimulators, and had a brief introduction of how the system works. There’s one round room, which is supposed to stimulate like the control tower, where we can have 360 deg around the view of the whole airport. There will be small stimulated planes taking off and landing and even planes on fire, then the AES will activate. With a click, we changed our view to the driver seat of the Fire engine. Cool~
Last we went to the AES station – Airport Emergency Station. Where the planes landing is just like 200 metres in front of you? Yes, it’s just so close! The engine sound blasting sometimes. We attend a small lesson on what the AES does, and fire warden course. We get to go up the fire engine and have a seat at the driver’s seat. Some many different buttons to press, and its so happen at 6pm there is a change over of shift so we get to hear the siren and witness the different engines driving around and testing their water hose. Interesting!!
Around 6.30pm, we are dismissed.
The CAAS DnD is coming soon – July. Formed the table with my new friends at orientation cos my buddies at work may not be coming. Halal table for now. But if my colleagues changed their mind, I will seat with them. Hopefully they change. Haha. So excited!

Yeah! My gals and Benny celebrated for my 20th bday. Met around 2.45pm @ Cineleisure. We went to Emax2 (I think) and played Wii games. Ooo. So interesting cos is my first time playing that. We played the “Mario Party” and “Wii Sports”. Played for about 2 hour then made a prank call to Ken (our HK new-found fren) asking him to meet us at Hereen, as I told stories about IPOD roadshow etc. *secret* only my gals know.
We still meet at Bishan, with Ken treating us ‘Dim Sum’ @ Kopitiam. Next we went to Ken’s house to play Majong. Haha. Long time never play le, so abit rusty here and there. Haha. Lost $3.10 thou, but I learnt lessons from there. I left about 9pm back home as the next day I still have to work. Cya gals. Thanks for the gift! I love shopping =)
